About paver & stone cleaners
Paver and stone cleaners for the specific problems hardscape actually gets: efflorescence bloom, motor oil, rust from sprinklers and furniture, leaf tannin, mould and moss, and polymeric haze left after a sand install. Using the wrong chemistry is how good hardscape gets ruined, so these are grouped by what they remove rather than by brand.

The Acid Warning
Acid based cleaners, especially muriatic, will clear efflorescence quickly and will also etch the surface, lighten the color and kill any plant it runs into. Etching is permanent. Marble, travertine, limestone and wet cast are particularly vulnerable.
- Use acid free formulas on natural stone and wet cast, always
- Test any cleaner on a hidden paver first and let it dry completely before judging
- Wet stone looks nothing like dry stone, never judge a result while damp
- Rinse thoroughly, residue left behind can interfere with sealer adhesion
Cleaning Before Sealing
Almost every sealer manufacturer requires a clean, dry, open surface. Sealing over dirt or efflorescence traps it under the film permanently and there is no fix short of stripping. If you are heading toward a seal job, browse paver sealers and clean first.
