Artificial turf accessories: infill sand, seaming tape and adhesive, turf nails and odor treatment. Infill is what makes synthetic turf behave like grass rather than carpet, keeping blades upright, adding ballast so the turf stays flat, and cushioning the surface underfoot.

Infill Does Three Jobs

• Holds the blades up so the turf does not mat down and look flat
• Adds weight so the turf stays put and does not wrinkle in heat
• Cushions the surface, which matters for pets, kids and play areas
• Zeolite based infills additionally absorb ammonia, which is the reason pet turf smells

Seams Are Where Turf Jobs Go Wrong

A visible seam is the giveaway of an amateur turf install, and seams that let go are the most common callback. Seam tape and turf adhesive have to be rated for outdoor temperature swings and ground moisture. Standard indoor carpet products fail outdoors within a season.

• Dry fit and trim before any adhesive goes down
• Blades on both pieces must run the same direction
• Nail the perimeter properly, turf moves more than people expect
• For pet areas, plan on periodic rinsing plus an odor treatment
