How This Paver Cleaner Calculator Works

Every figure in this calculator comes from the manufacturer: the product page, label or technical data sheet. Concentrates are worked out from the coverage per gallon of concentrate, so the result tells you how much to buy and, where the mix ratio is published, how much water to add. Ready to use products are worked out per gallon as sold.

Where a manufacturer gives a range, the buildup setting chooses the end of the range: heavy uses the low coverage figure so you do not run short. Containers are rounded up to the pack sizes we stock. Coverage always varies with the surface and how heavy the staining is, so follow the label, and when in doubt test a small area with a sample first.

Paver Cleaner Coverage Questions and Answers

How much cleaner a job takes comes down to which product you use, how it is mixed and how heavy the buildup is.

How much paver cleaner do I need?

It depends on the cleaner, because each manufacturer publishes its own coverage. Alliance says one gallon of Gator Shampoo concentrate, mixed 4 parts water to 1, covers about 375 sq ft. SEK Surebond says one gallon of SureClean at standard strength (1 to 36) covers about 6,500 sq ft. SRW rates PW Paver Wash at 200 sq ft per gallon. Pick your product above and the calculator uses that maker's figure.

Why does the calculator ask how heavy the buildup is?

Several manufacturers publish a coverage range rather than one number. SEK Surebond rates Efflo Off at 100 to 200 sq ft per diluted gallon and Alliance rates Gator Sealer Stripper at 40 to 50 sq ft per gallon. Light buildup uses the high end of the range, heavy buildup uses the low end, and average sits in the middle.

Should I plan for a second treatment?

On heavy deposits, yes. SEK Surebond notes that repeat applications are often needed on heavy efflorescence. Set treatments to 2 and the calculator doubles the area it plans for.

Why do some cleaners say the coverage is on the data sheet?

Some manufacturers, including Techniseal for several products, give the dilution and coverage on the technical data sheet or label rather than the product page. We only show figures the maker publishes, so for those products check our TDS and SDS library or call us at (856) 418-4895 and we will size the job with you.

Can I test a cleaner before I buy the full size?

Yes. We repack most of these cleaners as samples so you can try them on a spot of your own pavers first. See the paver cleaner samples.

What do I do after cleaning?

Several of these are sold as pre-seal cleaners, such as SRW PW Paver Wash and Techniseal Paver Prep. Once the surface is clean and fully dry, use the paver sealer coverage calculator to work out how much sealer you need.
