Gator Seal Signature Series Natural Look is Alliance's penetrating, water based sealer for people who want protection without a shiny coat on top. Alliance describes it as non film forming, breathable and fluoro free (PFAS free), with only a slight enhancement of color, and rates the finish at around 10 years, the longest it publishes for any of its sealers. It is made for dry cast concrete pavers, walls, masonry and natural stone.
It also comes with firm rules: unsealed surfaces only, one coat only, and a 60 day wait on new dry cast pavers. This guide covers what the sealer is, where Alliance says to use it and not use it, the application steps in Alliance's order, and how much you need, using figures from the Alliance Gator Signature Series Natural Look technical data sheet and our product page.

What Gator Signature Series Natural Look is
Alliance Gator Seal Signature Series Natural Look is a penetrating sealer. The big choice in sealing is film forming versus penetrating, and Alliance places this product firmly on the penetrating side. Here is how it compares with the film forming sealers in the Gator line, as Alliance and our product page describe them:
| Feature | Gator film forming sealers (Gator Seal solvent and Hybrid lines) | Signature Series Natural Look |
|---|---|---|
| How it protects | Sits on top as a film | Penetrates and forms an invisible barrier, not a coating |
| Look | Can deliver real shine and color depth | Natural look, slight color enhancement, no shine |
| How it ages | Eventually wears through, peels or blushes | Nothing on the surface to fail |
| Finish life | 2 to 5 years (2 to 3 for the Hybrid line) | Around 10 years |
| Walls | Alliance recommends a breathable sealer on walls, which rules these out | Approved for walls and masonry |
Alliance says it stops water, deicing salt, coffee, wine, motor oil and grease from penetrating, and because it is breathable, moisture is not trapped in the paver. Alliance says it must be applied on dry surfaces, and the surface must be clean and dry before sealing.

Where to use it (and where not to)
Alliance rates the Signature Series Natural Look for:
- Dry cast concrete pavers
- Retaining walls and masonry
- Natural stone
- Indoor concrete and natural stone
And the limits, straight from the manufacturer:
- Unsealed surfaces only. It cannot serve as a resealer over an existing sealer. For surfaces that are already sealed, look at Gator Seal Resealer.
- One coat only. Alliance warns that more coats can create a slippery surface.
- New pavers need 60 days. Wait 60 days after dry cast pavers are installed, and make sure the surface is cool to the touch.
- No rain. Do not apply during rain.
If you want the natural stone version that darkens the color, Alliance makes the Signature Natural Stone Color Enhancer. For a side by side on finishes, read wet look vs natural look paver sealer.
How to use Gator Signature Series Natural Look
This is the sequence Alliance gives. The full step by step is on the data sheet, so read it before you start.
- Test first. Try roughly 4 sq ft in a hidden area.
- Clean and remove all stains with Gator Clean products, such as Gator XP Oil and Grease Remover or Gator Rust Remover for those specific stains.
- Replace contaminated jointing material with Gator polymeric sand, then wait 48 hours above 41°F with no rain. Our guide on how to replace polymeric sand covers that part.
- Clean the whole surface with Gator Efflorescence Cleaner, which Alliance lists as the required preseal clean, then wait another 48 hours to dry.
- Apply one coat with a low pressure sprayer in 60 sq ft sections, and even it out with a water based foam roller.
- Wash tools immediately with warm soapy water.
After application, the surface is rain safe after 24 hours and back in use, for both foot and vehicle traffic, after 24 hours. For the general process, see our step by step guide to sealing pavers, how to clean pavers before sealing, and how long to wait before using your patio after sealing.

Safety and storage
The sourced safety points are about slip resistance and cleanup:
- Do not over apply. Alliance warns that excess application can make the surface slippery when wet, and that more than one coat can create a slippery surface.
- Alliance makes no slip resistance claim for it, so take care around pools and do not over apply.
- Clean tools with warm soapy water immediately after use.

Frequently asked questions
Will Gator Signature Natural Look change how my pavers look?
Only slightly. Alliance calls it a natural look sealer with a small enhancement of color, and it leaves no shine or film.
How long does it last?
Alliance rates it at around 10 years, the longest in its sealer range, and it carries a 10 year limited warranty on residential surfaces and commercial walls, with 1 year on commercial horizontal surfaces.
Can I use it on a retaining wall?
Yes. It is approved for walls, masonry and natural stone, and Alliance recommends a breathable sealer for walls specifically.
Can I apply a second coat or use it to reseal?
No. Alliance says one coat only, because more coats can create a slippery surface, and it is for unsealed surfaces only, so it cannot serve as a resealer.
What temperature can I apply it at?
41°F to 85°F (5°C to 30°C). Alliance revised this up from 32°F in an earlier data sheet, so older figures are out of date.
