SEK Surebond SB-8700 Wet Look Joint Stabilizing Sealer, Solvent, 1 Gallon
Why Contractors Reach For The Solvent Version
Water based sealers are easier to clean up and lower odour. Solvent based sealers penetrate further, build a deeper wet look and shrug off weather sooner. SB-8700 is the one you pick when you want the colour to pop and you do not want to lose the job to a rain forecast.
- Rain safe in 90 minutes. The shortest weather window in the Surebond sealer line.
- Will not yellow. Formulated to hold clear under sunlight rather than ambering the way cheap acrylics do.
- Joint stabilizer and sealer in one. Locks the sand and seals the face in a single pass.
- Antifungal. Designed to inhibit mold, moss and algae growth.
- Breathable. Will not trap moisture or efflorescence under the film.
Coverage Per Gallon
Stabilizing joints uses noticeably more product than sealing the surface alone, because the sealer has to travel down into the sand.
| With joint stabilization | 80 to 120 sq ft per gallon |
| Sealing only, no stabilization | 150 to 250 sq ft per gallon |
| Basis | Single application. Porosity and joint width move the number |
Approved Surfaces
SEK rates SB-8700 for the following. Natural stone and clay vary batch to batch, so SEK asks you to test a small area first to confirm both performance and appearance.
- Concrete and clay pavers
- Stamped and flat concrete
- Masonry and exposed aggregate
- Natural and manufactured stone
- Segmental retaining wall block and concrete walls
Where It Should Not Be Used, Straight From SEK
These are the manufacturer’s exclusions, not ours.
- Granite and marble. Not recommended.
- Asphalt. Not recommended.
- Glazed or ceramic tile. Not recommended.
- Always test a small area first. Natural stone and clay vary, and SEK asks for a test patch every time.

Solvent Handling
This is a solvent based product, so it ships as a hazardous material and needs the ventilation, PPE and cleanup solvent that any solvent sealer does. If you would rather stay water based and can live without the deepest wet look, SB-6000 is the water based wet look option and SB-1300 is the matte one.
