Alliance Gator Rock Bond Binder Kit with 40 lb Riverstone
Everything You Need To Pour A Small Bonded Stone Surface, In One Pail
The Gator Rock Bond kit pairs a 1/2 quart container of liquid binding agent with 40 lb of riverstone. Mix the two for four minutes, trowel the result within twenty minutes, and you get a porous, permeable decorative surface that holds its stones instead of scattering them. It is the go to for tree wells, banding, trim details, and short pathways.

Why Contractors Ask for Gator Rock Bond Kit by Name
Loose decorative stone in a tree well or a border looks great for about one season, then it is in the lawn, in the mower, and in the pool. Bonding it solves that without giving up permeability.
- The stones stay put. The binder locks the aggregate into a single porous mass, so mowers, blowers, foot traffic, and rain stop redistributing your stone.
- It stays permeable. Unlike a mortar or concrete detail, water drains straight through. That is what makes it safe around tree roots.
- Kit form, no guesswork. Binder and stone come matched and pre-portioned. You are not estimating a ratio on site.
- Trowel applied. No forms, no screed rails, no finishing crew. One person with a trowel can do a tree well.
- Low maintenance detail. Bonded stone does not need to be raked back into place or topped up every spring.
- Durable in harsh conditions. Alliance rates the cured surface for durability in extreme conditions.

This is a kit sized for detail work. Coverage depends entirely on the depth you trowel. For anything larger than a few tree wells or a short band, price out the binder and stone separately rather than buying kits.
Where Gator Rock Bond Kit Works
Rock Bond is a detail product. It shines in the places a full hardscape surface would be overkill.
- Tree wells and planting rings
- Banding and decorative borders between paved areas
- Short garden pathways and stepping details
- Trim work where a paved surface meets a planting bed
- Filling awkward transitions and odd shaped leftovers
- Around downspout outlets where you want drainage but not loose stone
- Dry creek bed accents that need to hold their shape
Where Gator Rock Bond Kit Should NOT Be Used (Straight From the Manufacturer)
Not for interior use. Alliance rates this for outdoor pedestrian use only.
Do not install below 60°F (16°C). The binder will not cure properly.
Not for heavy traffic areas. This is not a driveway or a commercial walkway product.
Do not install if rain is expected within 24 hours. The surface needs a full dry day.
Do not stretch the mix past 20 minutes of working time. Once it starts to set in the pail, it is done.

How to Install Gator Rock Bond Kit
Read the Alliance instructions before you start. This is the shape of the job:
- Excavate and compact a 4 in base of crushed stone where the bonded surface will sit.
- Confirm the air and surface temperature are above 60°F and that no rain is forecast for 24 hours.
- Combine the full 1/2 quart of binder with the 40 lb of riverstone and mix thoroughly for 4 minutes.
- Trowel the mixture onto the prepared base within 20 minutes of mixing.
- Work the surface to an even thickness and finish the edges cleanly.
- Leave it undisturbed for 24 hours with no rain and no traffic.
Quick Answers
How much area does one kit cover?
It depends on your troweled depth. Plan by volume: you have 40 lb of stone to place. For a tree well or a short band, one kit typically does it.
Can I use my own stone with the binder?
The kit is matched. If you want to bond a different aggregate, buy the binder on its own and follow the manufacturer ratio for that stone.
Is it really permeable?
Yes. The cured surface is porous, which is exactly why it works around trees where a sealed surface would suffocate roots.
Can I drive on it?
No. Pedestrian use only, and not in heavy traffic areas.
What if it rains at hour six?
You will likely have to redo it. The 24 hour dry window is not negotiable.
Why is the kit priced below a container of binder on its own?
The kit contains a small 1/2 quart binder portion sized to the 40 lb of stone that comes with it. A standalone binder container holds considerably more product and treats far more aggregate.
