The Residential Wall Grid That Wastes Nothing

A do-it-all bi-directional geogrid for residential segmental retaining walls up to 6 feet, with a long-term design strength of 688 pounds per foot. Because the strength runs both ways, offcuts are usable in either direction, which makes it the least wasteful grid for smaller projects with corners and curves.

Why Contractors Ask for Universal Geogrid for Retaining Walls by Name

Walls do not fail on day one. They lean and bulge years later, when the soil finally wins against block that had nothing tying it back.

  • Long-term design strength (LTDS) of 688 lb/ft, for walls up to 6 ft.
  • Bi-directional strength: usable in either roll direction.
  • The practical choice for residential walls and terraces.
  • Transfers load from the wall face into the compacted soil mass.

Where Universal Geogrid for Retaining Walls Works

Universal Geogrid for Retaining Walls is recommended by SRW Products for segmental retaining walls and slopes:

  • Segmental retaining walls
  • Steep slopes and tiered walls

Installation at a Glance

The full step by step guide is in the official TDS below. Here is the shape of the job:

  1. Follow. the wall design: layer count, lengths and elevations come from the block system's tables or the engineer.
  2. At. each grid course, sweep the block clean and roll the grid back from the wall face over compacted backfill (strength direction perpendicular to the wall for uni-directional grids).
  3. Set. the next block course to pin the grid, pull it taut and pin the tail.
  4. Backfill. and compact in lifts before the next layer. Never run tracked equipment directly on the grid.

Always test in a small discrete area first.

Quick Answers

Do I actually need geogrid?
Above 3 to 4 feet of wall height, or with slopes and loads above the wall, almost always yes. The block manufacturer's tables say exactly when and how much.

Which series do I need?
The wall design picks the grid, not the other way around. Match the LTDS your wall system's chart calls for, or call us at (856) 418-4895 with your wall height and we will walk it with you.

How far back does it go?
Typically 60 to 100 percent of wall height, per the design tables. Longer grid is cheap compared to rebuilding a leaning wall.

Is there anything I should know about handling it?
Wear gloves and eye protection, follow the label, and keep it away from children and pets until placed or cured. Full precautions are in the SDS below.
