- Clear. the bed of weeds and rake it smooth.
- Roll. the fabric out, overlapping seams a few inches, and pin with landscape staples every few feet.
- Cut. an X where each plant goes and fold the flaps around the stem.
- Cover. with 2 to 3 inches of mulch or stone. Fabric that stays covered lasts longest.
