Why Test Before You Treat the Whole Patio
Efflorescence is mineral salt that concrete pushes to the surface as it cures. It looks like a white or gray film, and how much of it lifts depends on how heavy the deposit is and how long it has been there.
A test patch tells you two things: whether one pass will clear your particular bloom, and what the paver color underneath actually looks like. People are often surprised by how much color comes back, and occasionally by how much efflorescence remains after one treatment on a heavy deposit.
How to Use the Sample
- Pick an area with visible white bloom, ideally somewhere partly hidden
- Dilute one to one with water per the SRW label
- Pre wet the surface, apply, and do not let it dry on the paver
- Agitate with a stiff brush, then rinse thoroughly
- Let the area dry completely before judging, damp pavers hide remaining bloom
The Standard Prep Step Before Sealing
Sealing over efflorescence locks it in permanently, and no amount of cleaning fixes it afterward. EF contains no muriatic or hydrochloric acid, so it clears the bloom and leaves the surface ready to accept sealer without the etching risk that comes with acid washing.
