Quikrete Concrete Acrylic Fortifier 1 Quart, Bonding Admixture No. 8610
Mix It Into The Mortar, Not Onto The Slab
Quikrete Concrete Acrylic Fortifier, product No. 8610, is a liquid polymer admixture. It replaces part of the mix water in Portland cement based repair mortars, patching compounds, stuccos and thin coatings, and the cured repair comes out tougher, tighter and better bonded than the same mix made with water alone. It is not painted onto the surface. If you need a bonding agent you brush or roll on before placing new concrete, that is the Quikrete Premium Concrete Bonding Adhesive No. 9902 instead.
What The Fortifier Changes
- Better adhesion to clean stucco, concrete and masonry, with excellent toughness in the cured repair.
- Lower permeability, so the repair resists salt water, mild acids and other aggressive chemicals soaking in.
- Less drying shrinkage, which is what causes thin repairs to craze and crack as they cure.
- No moist curing needed under most conditions, so you are not tarping and misting a patch for days.
- Freeze and thaw protection and improved water resistance on exterior work.
Where It Earns Its Keep
- Thin Portland cement coatings and skim coats over concrete or masonry.
- Driveway, sidewalk, step and patio patches that have to survive winter.
- Stucco and parge coats where shrinkage cracking is the usual failure.
- Any Quikrete repair or patching product where you want the bond strength raised.
Mixing
Use the fortifier in place of some of the mix water. Dosage runs roughly half a gallon per 40 to 80 lb bag depending on which product you are modifying, so check the bag you are working from. Mix to the consistency that product calls for and place it as you normally would.
