Paw Shield Pet Friendly Ice Melt 12 lb Jug, CMA and Corn Steep, 5 Colors
Dual Acting Means Two Different Mechanisms
Corn steep is an agricultural byproduct that lowers the working temperature and helps the product cling rather than bounce off. CMA, calcium magnesium acetate, is an acetate rather than a chloride, so it works by stopping ice particles bonding to each other and to the pavement. Together they melt without the harshness that makes rock salt so hard on concrete and paws.
- Pet friendly by design. Blended specifically to be gentler on animals crossing treated ground.
- Dual CMA and corn steep formulation. A driveway salt and sidewalk de-icer that does not sacrifice effectiveness.
- Effective at low temperatures. Melting power below zero degrees.
- Colored granules. You can see exactly where you have treated, which stops over application.
Colors
- Pink. The most visible against fresh snow.
- Green. Good contrast on grey slush.
- Blue. The traditional ice melt look.
- Orange. High visibility on commercial walkways.
- Purple. Distinctive if you are running two products or two crews.

The Liquid Version Does A Different Job
We also stock Liquid Paw Shield, which you spray before the storm so ice never bonds to the pavement in the first place. Granular breaks a bond that has already formed, liquid prevents it. Most properties that take snow seriously keep both.
