KolorScape Marble Rock 0.5 Cu Ft Bag, White Decorative Chips
What It Is For
Oldcastle lists it for flower beds, planters, walkways and driveways, and describes it as an attractive natural white rock that is easy to spread and retains moisture. Worth noting that the printed bag panel for this product, unlike the others in the range, does not list drainage areas among the uses.
- Beds and borders, where the white gives maximum contrast against foliage.
- Planters and containers, as a bright top dressing.
- Walkways and driveway edges, as a decorative surfacing.
- Does not decay, so it is a low maintenance alternative to wood mulch.

How Many Bags You Need
Oldcastle prints the coverage on the bag: a half cubic foot bag covers approximately 4 to 6 square feet at 1 inch deep, or about 3 square feet at 2 inches. Their own rule of thumb is to multiply your square footage by 0.33 for a 2 inch layer, or by 0.5 for a 3 inch layer.
| 1 inch deep | About 4 to 6 sq ft per bag |
| 2 inches deep | About 3 sq ft per bag, or square footage x 0.33 |
| 3 inches deep | Square footage x 0.5 |
| Example, a 5 ft x 20 ft bed | 100 sq ft, so about 32 bags at 2 inches or 49 bags at 3 inches |
Marble Rock or Mini Marble Chips
Both are white marble and the choice is size. Oldcastle does not publish a size for this standard Marble Rock, only for the Mini at three eighths of an inch. If you want a stone that genuinely functions as a mulch, the horticultural guidance points to half an inch or smaller, which means the Mini. If you want a coarser texture and more visible individual chips, this is the one. Order a bag of each if the bed is large enough that getting it wrong would be expensive.
What to Expect from White Stone Outdoors
Marble is a softer, more soluble stone than granite, and white shows organic staining. Under trees, expect leaf tannin and algae to dull it over several seasons. In open sun it holds its colour far better. This is a normal characteristic of white marble in a landscape rather than a fault in the product.
What Is and Is Not on the Bag
We would rather tell you what is documented than pad the page. KolorScape is a bagged landscape stone brand distributed by Oldcastle Lawn and Garden, and Oldcastle does not publish technical data sheets for these products the way a cement or sealer manufacturer does. There is no washed designation, no gradation, and no ASTM size number on any bag in this range. Everything on this page comes from the printed bag panel or Oldcastle item data. Where a figure is not published, we have left it out rather than guessed.
