Why Flake Form Works Faster
A flake presents far more surface area to the ice than a round pellet of the same weight. That means it draws moisture and starts the melt almost immediately rather than sitting there for several minutes first. The trade off is that flakes work through a little quicker, so you reapply more often in a long storm.

How to Apply
- Clear loose snow so the flakes reach the bonded ice underneath.
- Spread thinly. Flakes act fast, so a heavy layer is wasted product.
- Expect to reapply through a long storm, which is the trade for the speed.
- Reseal the pail. Magnesium chloride draws moisture from the air and will cake if left open.
