Traction Without Putting Salt on Your Concrete
Glacier Grip is stone dust grit rather than a de-icer. It does not melt anything. It gives an immediately rough, grippy surface on ice, which is what you want on new concrete, on a paver walk you have just sealed, or anywhere a chloride would do more harm than good.

When Grit Beats a De-Icer

Every chloride de-icer trades a little surface damage for melting power. Sometimes that trade is not worth making: concrete poured this year, a freshly sealed paver patio, a wooden ramp, a planting bed the runoff drains into, or simply a cold snap so deep that no salt is going to work anyway. Grit sidesteps the whole problem. It does not melt the ice, it just makes the ice safe to walk on.

  • Instant traction on ice and snow. No waiting for a chemical reaction, it grips as soon as it lands.
  • No chloride, so nothing to spall concrete, corrode metal or burn a planting bed.
  • Works at any temperature. Grit does not have a rated low end the way a de-icer does.
  • Safe around pets, with no salt to irritate paws.
  • For driveways, sidewalks, steps, parking areas and ramps, especially the ones with a slope.

Worth Knowing Before You Buy

Because Glacier Grip does not melt ice, the grit stays on the surface and needs sweeping up once the thaw comes, and it will track indoors on boots. Plenty of contractors use both: grit on the steps and the sealed patio, a de-icer on the open driveway.

How to Apply

  • Spread it directly onto the icy surface. There is no waiting period.
  • Concentrate it on slopes, steps and the spots people turn or brake.
  • Reapply after heavy traffic or fresh snowfall, since grit gets buried and pushed aside.
  • Sweep it up in spring and it can go straight into the driveway base or a gravel path.
