Blue Arctic Fox CMA Ice Melt Pail, 8, 20 and 45 lb, Pet Safe De-Icer
Why CMA Instead of Rock Salt
Rock salt melts by brute force, driving the freezing point down and taking the surface with it over enough seasons. CMA is an acetate rather than a chloride, and it works partly by stopping ice particles from bonding to each other and to the pavement. That gentler mechanism is why it costs more per pound and why it is the product to use where damage matters.
- Works in extreme cold. Dependable ice and snow control down to -25 F.
- Pet friendlier formula. Designed to reduce irritation to paws compared with traditional rock salt when used as directed.
- Kinder to concrete. Suitable for properly cured concrete, asphalt, pavers and masonry at least 12 months old.
- High visibility blue granules. The color shows you where you have already spread, which prevents both overuse and missed patches.
- Resealable pail. Keeps the product dry and scoopable across the whole season.

The Rest of the Range
We carry this CMA line in three colors, each named for its own animal. Green Seal is the green 8 lb pail and Pink Penguin is the pink pail, both rated to -20 F. All three share the same acetate chemistry, so pick on size and on which color you would rather see against the snow.
How to Apply
- Clear loose snow first so the product reaches the bonded ice underneath.
- Spread thinly and evenly. The color makes it easy to see your coverage, so use it.
- Reapply as the color fades rather than laying it on heavily up front.
- Keep it off concrete less than 12 months old, whatever the de-icer.
