About this item
- Absorbs ammonia from animal urine. The zeolite structure traps the molecule rather than masking the smell.
- Cools the turf. Alliance: it absorbs heat from sunlight and transpires water to the atmosphere, "significantly lowers the temperature of the artificial grass surface."
- The top layer, over a primary infill. Alliance uses roughly one third of the total infill height.
- White, so it is easy to see and easy to replace when it is spent.
- More porous than rubber infill, which is why it runs cooler in direct sun.

Artificial turf and dogs is a solved problem, but only if you use the right infill. Zeolite is a mineral with a cage-like crystal structure that traps ammonia molecules, which is what urine smell actually is.

Coverage swings widely because the rate does: 26.7 sq ft per bag at the heavy end, up to 160 sq ft at the light end. Heavy pet traffic justifies the heavier rate. Call (856) 418-4895 and we will size it against your dog situation.
Where Gator XTurf Zeo-White Works
Alliance rates Zeo-White as a top-layer infill for:
- Pet playgrounds and dog runs
- Residential landscape turf, 1 to 2 in pile
- Any turf area that runs hot in direct sun
- Over a Gator Green or Gator Beige primary infill
Where Gator XTurf Zeo-White Should NOT Be Used (Straight From the Manufacturer)
Never use a metal leaf rake, it damages the turf blades.
Do not broom until the Gator XP glue has set for 3 to 4 hours, or you will pull the seams apart.
This is a top layer, not a primary infill. It goes over Green or Beige rather than instead of them.

How to Install Zeo-White Top Layer
The full step by step guide is in the official documentation below. Here is the shape of the job:
- Spread in thin layers with an adjustable-rate drop spreader, walking straight lines at a consistent speed. Use a shovel for edges and corners.
- Broom it in with a stiff bristle broom, turf rake or power broom. Firm pressure, walking backwards, overlapping rows, north-south then east-west, until no sand is visible and the blades stand upright.
- Leaf-blow the residual sand and cut blades off the surface.
- Mist lightly with water to kill the static and settle the infill.
Brush and top up twice a year. In fall rake the debris and add a fresh coat, in spring straighten the flattened blades and add a layer once dry.
Why Zeolite Works on Dog Urine
It is a genuinely different mechanism from a deodorizer, which is why it keeps working.
- Urine smell is ammonia. As urine breaks down it releases ammonia gas, and that is what you smell.
- Zeolite has a cage structure. Silicon, aluminum and oxygen form a framework with 4 Angstrom pores and channels through it.
- It exchanges ions. At 0.8 to 1.2 meq per gram it captures ammonium rather than letting it gas off.
- Rain recharges it. Flushing carries the captured material through and frees the sites again.
- White so you can see it. When it is spent and grey, you know to top it up.
