Why Contractors Ask for Gator Spacers by Name
Exterior porcelain is unforgiving. A tile that sits a millimetre proud of its neighbour is a trip hazard and it catches every low sun. Spacers fix alignment in all three axes at once.
- Uniform joint spacing at 1/8, 3/16 or 1/4 in, colour coded so you can see at a glance which you are using.
- Vertical and horizontal alignment in one component.
- Load transfer between tiles, which is what gives a monolithic surface rather than independent slabs.
- Cuttable. The disk can be cut into a half or quarter for edges, and the bars can be removed entirely to leave a flat disk when you need support mid-field on a large tile.

Exterior porcelain tile installations only. These are part of the Gator Tile System, not a general-purpose tile spacer.
They work with Gator Block Bond XP adhesive and Gator Tile Edge around the perimeter. Used on their own without the rest of the system they do not deliver the load transfer.

How to Use Gator Spacers
The full step by step guide is in the official documentation below. Here is the shape of the job:
- Install Gator Base panels, extending 6 in beyond the tiled area on all sides.
- Set the spacers at the tile corners, cutting to half or quarter disks at the edges and perimeter.
- Apply Gator Block Bond XP onto the spacers and set the tiles.
- Fit Gator Tile Edge around the perimeter, fastened to the Gator Base with Gator Base Screws.

Multiply your square footage by Alliance's factor for your tile size: 0.4 for 16x16, 0.35 for 18x18 and 20x20, 0.75 for 24x24, 0.29 for 36x36.
What are the colours?
Blue is 1/8 in, grey is 3/16 in, black is 1/4 in.
Can I cut them?
Yes. Alliance says the disk can be cut into a half or quarter unit, and the bars can be removed to leave a flat disk for mid-field support on large tiles.
Do I need Gator Base to use these?
They are designed as part of the Gator Tile System, which puts porcelain directly on Gator Base panels with Block Bond adhesive.
