Alliance Gator Roller for Paver Sealers
The Roller Alliance Specifies in Their Own Instructions
Every Alliance sealer data sheet says the same thing: spray it, then back-roll it. Yellow for water based, black for solvent based — and using the wrong one is how you get a ruined roller and a streaked patio.

Why Contractors Ask for Gator Roller by Name
Spraying alone leaves puddles, and puddles dry as milky or blotchy patches. Back-rolling pulls the excess out and evens the film, which is why Alliance builds it into every application step.
- Yellow roller for water based sealers — the whole Hybrid Seal line and the Signature Series.
- Black roller for solvent based sealers — Gator Seal Wet Look, Satin Look and Resealer. Solvent dissolves a roller not built for it.
- Named in the application step of Alliance's sealer data sheets, not an optional accessory.
- 9 inch, the standard frame size.

Where Gator Roller Works
Use a Gator Roller for:
- Back-rolling any Alliance paver sealer after spraying
- Evening out the film in 60 sq ft sections
- Pulling excess sealer out of low spots before it dries
Match the Roller to the Sealer
Do not use the yellow water-base roller with a solvent sealer. The solvent attacks the cover and you will roll fibres into the finish.
Alliance recommends two people on a sealer job: one spraying, one back-rolling behind.

How to Back-Roll a Paver Sealer
The full step by step guide is in the official documentation below. Here is the shape of the job:
- Spray one 60 sq ft section at a time.
- Back-roll immediately with the correct roller, working the sealer even and lifting any puddles.
- Move to the next section and keep a wet edge so the sections blend.
- Do not go back over cured areas. One coat is what Alliance specifies.
Quick Answers
Why two different rollers?
Solvent based sealer dissolves a cover made for water based product. The black roller is built to resist it.
Which one for a Hybrid sealer?
Yellow. Every Hybrid Seal is water based.
Which one for Gator Seal Wet Look?
Black. The Gator Seal line is solvent based.
Do I really need to back-roll?
Alliance builds it into the application step of every sealer TDS. Skipping it is the usual cause of milky or blotchy patches from over-application.
What size?
9 inch, the standard frame size.
