Why SEK Surebond Paver Jointing Sand?

What Jointing Sand Is Actually For

Segmental pavement gets its strength from interlock, and interlock only happens when the joints are full. The sand transfers load from paver to paver so the field behaves as one surface rather than a collection of loose blocks.

Description

Plain Jointing Sand, Washed Screened And Dried Properly
Not every joint wants polymeric sand. Sometimes the specification calls for clean graded jointing sand that completes the interlock and nothing more, with no polymer, no hardening and no cure window. This is that sand, washed, screened and dried to ASTM C-144, which is the same gradation standard the polymeric products are built on.

What Jointing Sand Is Actually For

Segmental pavement gets its strength from interlock, and interlock only happens when the joints are full. The sand transfers load from paver to paver so the field behaves as one surface rather than a collection of loose blocks. That structural job is separate from the weed and washout resistance a polymeric sand adds.

  • Completes the interlocking of segmental pavers. The structural reason joints get filled at all.
  • Meets ASTM C-144 specifications. Correct gradation, not builders sand.
  • Washed, screened and dried. Clean and consistent, and dry sand actually sweeps into a joint.
  • For joints up to 3/4 in. Standard paver joint width.

Jointing Sand Or Polymeric Sand?

Plain jointing sand costs roughly a third of polymeric sand and does the structural job perfectly. What it does not do is resist washout, weeds and ants, so it needs topping up over time. Choose it when the specification calls for sand, when you plan to stabilize the joint with a sealer afterward, or on a job where the joints will be maintained.

  • Plain jointing sand. Structural interlock, lowest cost, needs maintenance.
  • PolySweep polymeric sand. Hardens in place, resists washout, weeds and insects.
  • PS1500. Ready to use and permeable, for joints that need to drain.

Questions about this product

Ask a question ›
How many bags do I need?
Coverage depends on paver size, joint width and joint depth, so a bag count from a square-foot number alone can be off by half. The coverage calculator uses this product's own data sheet figures: enter your area, paver size and joint width and it gives you the bag count.
Which colors does it come in?
3 options: Tan, Gray, Platinum. Screens shift color, so check a color sample against your own pavers before ordering full bags if the shade matters.
When will it ship?
In-stock orders placed before 2:00 PM Eastern on a weekday ship the same day from our Williamstown, New Jersey warehouse by UPS or FedEx Ground. The cut-off is when the carriers start arriving; order after it, or on a weekend, and it ships the next business day. Just missed it? Call (856) 418-4895: if the carrier has not picked up yet we do our best to get it out the same day. The box above the Add to cart button shows the live countdown and an arrival estimate for your ZIP. Phones are answered 24/7; the warehouse itself is open for pick-ups and returns Monday to Friday 8 to 5 and Saturday 8 to noon, Eastern. For a pick-up, call first so we can pull your order.
Can I buy by the pallet?
Yes. Full pallets ship by freight truck, so we price the delivery for your address instead of guessing. Request a pallet quote or call (856) 418-4895 and we will call you back with a delivered price.
Where are the technical and safety data sheets?
The manufacturers' technical and safety data sheets are collected in the TDS and SDS library. Coverage, cure time and application temperatures on this page come from those sheets.
Is contractor or bulk pricing available?
No. One price for everyone: the price on the page is what contractors, landscapers and homeowners all pay. For full pallets, request a pallet quote and we will price the freight to your address.
