Why Liquid Ice Melt?

Why Pre-Treating Changes the Job

Granular de-icer is reactive. You wait for the ice, then spread product to break a bond that has already formed.

Why Pre-Treating Changes the Job

Granular de-icer is reactive. You wait for the ice, then spread product to break a bond that has already formed. A liquid applied to a dry surface before the storm leaves a film that stops that bond forming at all, so the snow that lands can be swept or shoveled off cleanly. On steps and porches, where a shovel is awkward and a fall is expensive, that is the whole game.

  • Works immediately to break down ice and snow, effective down to -25 F.
  • Enhanced with CMA, calcium magnesium acetate, to be safer for pets, plant life and the surfaces you are treating.
  • Apply before or after a storm. Pre-treat to prevent buildup, or treat ice that has already formed.
  • Built for the awkward areas. Steps, sidewalks, patios, porches and driveways.

Choosing Your Size

32 oz bottle The trial size and the touch up size. Front steps, a porch, a single entryway.
1 gallon The standard homeowner size for a walkway and driveway apron.
2.5 gallon For a full driveway, or a season of pre-treating a set of steps and walks.
5 gallon The commercial size. Entrances, multi unit walkways and property maintenance routes.

This Is Not the Same as Liquid Paw Shield

We carry two liquid de-icers and they are different products. This is the black label Liquid Ice Melt, a professional grade specialty blend enhanced with CMA and rated to -25 F. Liquid Paw Shield is our pet safe liquid, sold in 1, 2.5 and 5 gallon sizes. If you are treating a surface a dog crosses several times a day, look at Paw Shield. If you want the colder rating and the specialty blend, this is the one.
