Rock salt is the most aggressive product on this shelf. It works, it is cheap, and it is hard on concrete that has not fully cured, on metal and on planting beds.

Rock salt is the most aggressive product on this shelf. It works, it is cheap, and it is hard on concrete that has not fully cured, on metal and on planting beds. If the area you are treating is new concrete, a paver patio you care about, or a walkway your dog uses daily, one of the calcium magnesium acetate products is the better choice even though it costs more per pound.
