Good to know about Vulcan HB-DBM01 Dead Blow Hammer
Why a Dead Blow Beats a Mallet on Big Units
On a large format slab, a rubber mallet bounces and much of the energy comes back up the handle instead of seating the unit. A dead blow absorbs that rebound and drives the slab down.

Looking After It
The one thing that kills a dead blow hammer is a split in the head casing, which lets the shot out and turns it into an ordinary and rather poor mallet.

Why a Dead Blow Beats a Mallet on Big Units
On a large format slab, a rubber mallet bounces and much of the energy comes back up the handle instead of seating the unit. A dead blow absorbs that rebound and drives the slab down. It also means fewer blows, which matters when the unit you are persuading is heavy enough that every strike risks a chip.

Looking After It
The one thing that kills a dead blow hammer is a split in the head casing, which lets the shot out and turns it into an ordinary and rather poor mallet. Keep it off sharp edges, do not use it to strike anything with a cutting edge, and store it out of prolonged direct sun, since UV degrades the polymer over years.
