ROMEX PROFI-DEKO Gravel Binder, Two Part Resin for Bound Aggregate
What It Is For
- Tree pits and tree surrounds, where roots need water and air but the surface has to be walkable.
- Decorative drainage strips along a building or a driveway edge.
- Pedestrian pathways where loose gravel would scatter.
- Light vehicular areas, up to the 3.5 ton figure ROMEX publishes.
The Aggregate Requirement Is Absolute
This binds clear aggregate with no fines, up to about half an inch. The stone must be washed, dry and dust free. That is not a preference, it is the condition for the resin to coat each particle and grip it. Dusty or damp aggregate gives a weak, patchy result, and there is no fixing it afterwards.
Mix and Coverage
| Aggregate per mix | 160 lb per resin unit |
| At 1 1/2 in depth | About 12.5 sq ft per mix |
| At 2 in depth | About 8.5 sq ft per mix |
| At 3 in depth | About 6.25 sq ft per mix |
| Minimum layer | 30 mm, about 1 1/4 in |
| For heavy or commercial use | 50 mm, about 2 in minimum |
| Optional topcoat | Rolled undiluted, covering roughly 150 sq ft per unit |
Working Time and Cure
- Working time is about 20 to 30 minutes once mixed. Mix only what you can place in that window.
- Protect from rain for 12 to 24 hours.
- Allow 24 hours before applying the topcoat or opening the surface to traffic.
- Install only between 41 and 86 F.
Limits Worth Knowing
- New installations only. It is not a repair or an overlay for an existing surface.
- Clear aggregate only, no fines.
- It is weather dependent. The cure needs rain protection, so watch the forecast before you mix.
- Pack weight is not published by ROMEX North America. It is sold as a resin unit rather than by the pound.
