Why Snow Shield™, and Not Just Rock Salt

Plain rock salt is cheap for a reason: it stops working around 20°F, it is hard on concrete and metal, and it is rough on pets and plants. Snow Shield™ is built to fix those weak spots. Every formula in the line is enhanced with CMA (calcium magnesium acetate) and rated to keep melting down to -25°F, so it keeps working through the cold snaps where rock salt quits.

• Melts colder. Rated to -25°F, well past where straight rock salt gives up.
• Easier on surfaces. Chemical Equipment Labs markets the line as safer for concrete, pets, and plants than straight rock salt or straight calcium chloride, when used as directed.
• You can see your coverage. The colored formulas show exactly where you have already spread, so you do not over-apply, waste product, or leave bare patches.

Choose Your Color

There are really three decisions here, not five, because three of the colors are the same ice melt in different dyes. Here is the honest breakdown so you buy the right bag:

• Pink: Magnesium chloride, agricultural-based corrosion inhibitors, and sodium chloride, enhanced with CMA. This is the only Snow Shield™ formula CEL specifically describes as safer for concrete, brick pavers, and landscaping, and CEL states it greatly reduces the metal corrosion common with straight rock salt or calcium chloride. If you have hardscape, plantings, or a paver patio, buy Pink.
• Blue, Green & Orange: One shared blend: calcium chloride, potassium acetate, and sodium chloride, encapsulated with CMA. These three are the same ice melt in different dyes. Pick between them purely on which color you can see best on your surface, orange reads hardest against snow and gray asphalt, blue and green stand out on light concrete.
• White: Calcium chloride, magnesium chloride, and sodium chloride, enhanced with CMA. No dyes or pigments, so nothing colored is left behind in the residual material and nothing tracks indoors. The trade-off is that you cannot see your own coverage while you spread it.
