What Pet Friendly Actually Means

No de-icer is edible, and any product will irritate if a dog walks through a heavy layer and then licks its feet. What a pet friendly formula does is lower the chance of irritation at normal application rates compared with coarse rock salt, which is sharp underfoot as well as harsh chemically. Spread it thinly, wipe your dog's paws when you come in, and it does its job.

Getting the Best Out of It

  • Spread thinly. Over-application is the single biggest cause of paw irritation with any de-icer.
  • Clear the loose snow first so the granules reach the ice rather than sitting on powder.
  • Wipe your dog's paws after walks, whatever product is on the ground.
  • Keep the container closed between storms so the granules stay loose.
