Angular White Stone That Reflects Light Into Shaded Beds
Pavestone White Marble Chips are angular stones that Pavestone describes as reflecting light beautifully for a crisp, clean look. They are recommended for walkways, borders and formal garden beds, and the brightness is the whole reason to choose them: nothing else in the range lifts a dark corner the same way.

Marble Will Raise Your Soil pH

This is the thing nobody mentions and it matters if you are putting stone over planting. Marble is calcium carbonate, so as it slowly weathers it makes the soil beneath more alkaline over years. For most lawns and shrubs that is harmless. For acid loving plants, azaleas, rhododendrons, blueberries, hollies and hydrangeas whose colour depends on pH, it is a genuine problem. If that is your planting, a volcanic stone such as lava rock is near neutral and the safer choice.

What to Expect From White Stone Outdoors

White shows dirt in a way brown and grey stone does not. Under trees, expect leaf tannin, organic staining and algae to dull it over several seasons. In open sun it holds its brightness far longer. That is a normal characteristic of white stone in a landscape rather than a fault, and it is worth knowing before you cover a large shaded area.

Angular Against Rounded

Marble chips are crushed rather than tumbled, so they have flat faces and edges that interlock. That makes them stay put on a slope and underfoot better than rounded pebbles. The trade is that angular stone is less comfortable barefoot and harder on knees than a rounded pea gravel, so for paths people walk on barefoot or dog runs, the rounded products in this range are the better pick.

Where These Facts Come From

Pavestone is a brand of The Quikrete Companies, and unlike Quikrete’s cement products it publishes no data sheet for bagged landscape stone. Its own catalogue records carry the product description and nothing else: no weight, no stone size, no coverage. So this page states what Pavestone itself says, and where a figure comes from retailer data instead we label it as such rather than presenting it as a manufacturer specification. No product in this range carries a washed, graded or ASTM claim from Pavestone.
