Where these numbers come from. There is no published coverage chart for Power Bond Plus. The figures above are our own guidance, worked out from bag weight against the rates published for comparable polymeric sands rated to the same 2 in joint. Treat them as a planning estimate rather than a manufacturer specification.

Coverage on any polymeric sand moves with paver size as much as joint width, because small pavers carry far more linear feet of joint per square foot than large slabs. A 4 by 8 in holland paver will drink roughly two and a half times what a 24 in slab does at the same joint width. If your joints are narrower than 1/8 in, or you are working on a permeable installation where the joint has to keep draining, this is the wrong product. Call us and we will point you at the right one.

Before You Install

  • The pavers and the joints must be completely dry. Damp surfaces are the single most common cause of haze.
  • Joints need a minimum depth of about 1-1/2 in for the sand to lock properly. Top-dressing a shallow joint does not work.
  • Sweep the surface clean before you water. Sand left sitting on the paver face is what hazes, not the sand in the joint.
  • Do not install during rain, or when rain is forecast inside 24 hours.
  • Follow the installation instructions on the bag for sweeping, compaction and watering. Performance depends on getting the water right.

How wide can the joints be?
The manufacturer rates this product for joints up to 2". Measure the widest joint on the job, not the average; if it is wider than that, pick a sand rated for wider joints or use the project finder.
How many bags do I need?
