Quikrete Concrete Repair 10 fl oz, Textured Acrylic Crack Filler, No. 8620

What It Is For

Filling and sealing cracks in vertical and horizontal concrete, masonry and stucco. It helps keep water out of a crack, which is what stops freeze thaw cycles opening it further each winter. Being acrylic, it cleans up with water rather than solvent.

• Textured sanded formula that blends with the texture and colour of concrete rather than sitting on it as a smooth line.
• Cracks up to 1/2 inch wide. Anything narrower than 1/8 inch should be chiselled out to at least that width first so the filler can key in.
• Vertical and horizontal surfaces, so it works on a wall as well as a slab.
• Weather resistant, and it helps prevent water and ice damage to masonry.
• Water clean up while wet.

Where Not to Use It

• Not for control or expansion joints. Those joints are designed to move and need a sealant rated for movement, not a filler.
• Not for structural repairs. This restores a surface, it does not carry load.
• Not if rain threatens within 12 hours.
• Not where the surface may reach 140 F or higher.
• It will not be an exact colour match. Concrete varies, and so will the repair.

If Your Joint Moves, You Need a Different Product

A crack that opens and closes with the seasons will split an acrylic filler open again. For a moving joint, Quikrete makes advanced polymer sealants rated to ASTM C920 Class 25, meaning plus or minus 25 percent movement, in both self levelling and non sag grades. Ask us and we will point you at the right one rather than selling you this twice.

How to Apply

• Clean the crack out. Remove loose material, dust and anything that will stop adhesion.
• Widen hairline cracks to at least 1/8 inch so there is something for the filler to grip.
• Apply no thicker than 3/8 inch in a single application. Build up in passes if the crack is deep.
• Tool the surface to match the texture around it while it is still wet.
• Wait at least 24 hours before painting, and use latex paint.
