Quikrete Concrete Mix 10 lb Bag, 4000 PSI, Ready To Use, No. 1101
What It Is For
General concrete work and patching, at two inches thick or more, and for setting posts. Quikrete rates the 1101 formula for footings, slabs, steps, walkways, curbs, equipment pads, pipe and post footings, and driveway repairs. The 10 lb bag suits the small end of that list.
- 4000 psi blend of portland cement, sand and gravel, as printed on the bag.
- Exceeds the compressive strength requirements of ASTM C387.
- Pour at 2 inches thick or more. Thinner than that and this is the wrong product.
- Just add water. Nothing else goes in it.

Where a Thicker Pour Matters
The two inch minimum is not a suggestion. Concrete Mix contains gravel, and below two inches there is not enough depth for the aggregate to lock together, so a thin layer will craze and break up. For patching thinner than that, a sand mix or a resurfacer is the right product and we can point you at one.
Curing and Cold Weather
- Start curing as soon as the surface is firm enough not to be damaged.
- Cure 5 days at 70 F or higher, or 7 days in cooler weather between 50 F and 70 F.
- Cut control joints 1 inch deep every 6 to 8 feet on slab work.
- Setting a post, wait 24 hours before it takes any strain.
- Protect from freezing for the first 48 hours.
Handling
Wet cement causes severe skin burns and serious eye damage, and repeated inhalation of the dry dust is a lung hazard. Wear impervious gloves, eye protection and a dust mask when you are emptying and mixing the bag, even a small one.
