Where The Gloss Version Is The Right Call
Shaded, damp and constantly wet areas are where hardscape goes green. SEK calls out shaded patios, pool decks and outdoor showers for this sealer because the antifungal package plus a crosslinked film is a better answer there than a flat matte coat.
- Enhanced look. Low luster to semi gloss, so paver colour reads richer than it does dry.
- Self crosslinking. The film knits to itself as it cures for a tougher surface.
- Antifungal. Built to inhibit mold, mildew and fungus growth, which is the whole reason it is recommended for shade.
- Joint stabilizer and sealer in one. No separate stabilizing step.
- Breathable. Will not trap moisture or efflorescence beneath the film.

As with every joint stabilizing sealer, stabilizing joints consumes far more product than sealing the surface alone.

SEK rates SB-7700 for the following. Natural stone and clay vary batch to batch, so SEK asks you to test a small area first to confirm both performance and appearance.

Where It Should Not Be Used, Straight From SEK
These are the manufacturer’s exclusions, not ours.
- Granite and marble. Not recommended.
- Asphalt. Not recommended.
- Glazed or ceramic tile. Not recommended.
- Always test a small area first. Natural stone and clay vary, and SEK asks for a test patch every time.

Before You Seal
Every SEK sealer wants a clean, dry surface. If the pavers have efflorescence, ground in dirt or an old failed sealer on them, that has to come off first or the new sealer bonds to the contamination instead of the paver.
