A Subtle Satin Finish And A Stabilized Joint From One Product

JS is Techniseal all in one satin sealer and joint fortifier. It protects concrete and interlocking pavers from premature erosion, repels contaminants, strengthens sand and aggregate joints, and leaves a smooth satin finish with gentle color enhancement. It is microporous, so the surface can still breathe.

Why Contractors Ask for JS Satin Look Sealer by Name

Satin is the finish most homeowners actually want when they say they want their pavers to look better. Not flat, not glossy wet, just richer and cleaner.

  • Satin sits between natural and wet look. It lifts the color without the high gloss that dates quickly and shows every scuff.
  • It is a sealer and a joint fortifier in one. Techniseal describes it as an all in one product that strengthens sand or aggregate joints while it seals the surface. One application, two results.
  • Microporous. The film lets moisture vapor move rather than trapping it, which is what causes blushing and delamination in sealers that seal too tightly.
  • It repels contaminants. Once cured it resists the staining agents that land on a patio, which is most of the practical value of sealing.
  • Water based. Lower odor and simpler cleanup than a solvent finish.
  • Published coverage. 150 sq ft per gallon and 750 sq ft per 5 gallon makes estimating straightforward.

Techniseal notes actual coverage varies with joint width and surface porosity. Older, more porous pavers and wide joints will pull the figure down, so measure and add a margin rather than ordering to the exact published number.

Where JS Satin Look Sealer Works

JS suits the job where the customer wants a visible improvement without a glossy finish.

  • Concrete paver patios and walkways
  • Interlocking paver driveways
  • Surfaces with sand or aggregate joints that need fortifying
  • Resealing work where the previous finish was satin
  • Projects where a gloss wet look would be too much
  • Patios where the pavers have faded and need lifting

Where JS Satin Look Sealer Should NOT Be Used (Straight From the Manufacturer)

Techniseal lists concrete pavers and interlocking pavers. For natural stone, iN and CB+ are the products that list it.

This enhances color. If the customer wants no change at all, use NS or iN.

Do not apply over a dirty, damp, or efflorescent surface. Clean and prep first.

Read the current technical data sheet for temperature, moisture, and recoat requirements before you start.

How to Install JS Satin Look Sealer

Follow the official Techniseal instructions, linked below. This is the shape of the job:

  1. Clean the surface thoroughly and allow it to dry completely.
  2. Confirm the joints are filled and cured.
  3. Test a small discrete area first so the customer can see and approve the finished look.
  4. Apply evenly per the technical data sheet, avoiding pooling in the low spots.
  5. Respect the recoat and cure times specified by Techniseal.
  6. Keep traffic off through the cure period.

Always show the customer a test patch before you seal the whole patio. Satin enhances color, and how much it enhances depends entirely on the paver.

Quick Answers

How much will it change the color?
JS is listed as a color enhancement product with a satin finish. It enriches the existing color rather than adding one. Test a small area to show the customer.

Does it stabilize the joints?
Yes. Techniseal describes JS as an all in one sealer and joint fortifier for sand or aggregate joints.

How is it different from JSW?
Same family, different finish. JS is satin. JSW is a permanent wet look gloss. Both stabilize joints and both are water based.

What does microporous mean?
The cured film lets moisture vapor pass rather than sealing it in, which reduces the risk of blushing and delamination.

How much do I need?
Up to 150 sq ft per gallon or 750 sq ft per 5 gallon, adjusted for joint width and paver porosity.

Can I use it on natural stone?
Techniseal lists concrete and interlocking pavers for JS. For natural stone, look at iN or CB+.
