Green Coated Primary Infill for Artificial Turf

Rounded, green-coated quartz at 12/20 mesh β€” the first-layer infill that weighs turf down, holds every blade upright and drains. UV and colorfastness tested, mildew resistant, and the green disappears into the turf instead of showing through. 50 lb bags.

Why Contractors Ask for Gator XTurf Infill Sand Green by Name

Infill is not optional ballast, it is what makes artificial turf look like grass instead of a rug. It supports each blade so it stands up, weighs the turf flat so it does not ripple, and shields the backing from UV.

  • Primary first-layer infill. Alliance: "serves as the primary infill ingredient for the first layer."
  • Rounded green coated quartz. Round grains work down between the blades instead of bridging.
  • Blends with every turf color. Alliance states Gator Green "will match or blend in with all artificial turf colors."
  • UV and colorfastness tested to ASTM G155, and mildew resistant.
  • Superior gradation for drainage and it keeps the turf cooler than bare backing.
  • Stops wrinkles and ripples and protects the turf backing, extending its life.
  • Safe for pets.

Where Gator XTurf Infill Sand Green Works

Alliance rates Gator Green infill for:

  • Residential landscape artificial turf, 1 to 2 in pile
  • Front and back yard installations
  • Pet areas, with Zeo-White as the top layer
  • Putting greens

Where Gator XTurf Infill Sand Green Should NOT Be Used (Straight From the Manufacturer)

Never use a metal leaf rake β€” it damages the turf blades.

Do not broom until the Gator XP glue has set for 3 to 4 hours, or you will pull the seams apart.

How to Install Artificial Turf Infill

The full step by step guide is in the official documentation below. Here is the shape of the job:

  1. Spread in thin layers with an adjustable-rate drop spreader, walking straight lines at a consistent speed. Use a shovel for edges and corners.
  2. Broom it in with a stiff bristle broom, turf rake or power broom. Firm pressure, walking backwards, overlapping rows, north-south then east-west, until no sand is visible and the blades stand upright.
  3. Leaf-blow the residual sand and cut blades off the surface.
  4. Mist lightly with water to kill the static and settle the infill.

Brush and top up twice a year: in fall rake the debris off and add a fresh coat, in spring straighten the snow-flattened blades and add a layer once dry.

Green, Beige or Zeo-White? How the Three Work Together

They are not alternatives, they are layers. Alliance publishes a clear hierarchy.

  • Green and Beige are primary infills β€” the first layer, at 1.5 to 3 lb per sq ft. Pick one, not both.
  • Zeo-White is the top layer β€” zeolite, at 0.25 to 1.5 lb per sq ft, roughly one third of the total infill height.
  • Green vs Beige β€” Green is round coated quartz at 12/20 mesh with UV testing and mildew resistance. Beige is semi-angular natural sand at 20/40 mesh and the cost-effective option.
  • For dogs β€” a primary layer of Green or Beige, then Zeo-White on top for the ammonia absorption.

Quick Answers

How much infill do I need?
1.5 to 3 lb per sq ft for a 1 to 2 in pile, so one 50 lb bag covers 16.7 to 33.3 sq ft. Taller pile needs more.

Is this the primary infill or a top dressing?
Primary. It is the first layer, and Zeo-White goes on top of it if you want odor control.

Green or Beige?
Green is round coated quartz at 12/20 mesh with UV and colorfastness testing and mildew resistance. Beige is natural semi-angular sand at 20/40 mesh and cheaper. Both are primary infills at the same rate.

Will the green show through my turf?
Alliance states it will match or blend with all artificial turf colors, which is the point of coating it.

Does infill help with heat?
Yes, Alliance lists cooling among its functions. For maximum cooling, top it with Zeo-White.

Is it safe for pets?
Yes. For pet areas Alliance recommends adding Zeo-White on top to handle ammonia from urine.

When can I broom it in?
Not until any Gator XP glue on your seams has set 3 to 4 hours.
