Why Contractors Ask for Gator Seal Wet Look by Name

This is the finish most people picture when they say they want their patio sealed: colors deep and rich, surface looking freshly rained on. Wet Look is the solvent grade that delivers it and stabilizes the joints at the same time.

  • Vibrant color enhancement. Alliance rates this as the strongest color lift in their sealer range.
  • Joint stabilizer. Locks the polymeric sand down as it seals.
  • Film former. A protective layer across the paver surface.
  • Rain safe in 90 minutes, back in use in 24 hours.
  • Solvent durability. Alliance puts the finish life of their solvent sealers at 3 to 5 years, longer on gloss retention than water based.
  • Guards against oil and dirt stains, de-icing salt corrosion and UV.

Where Gator Seal Wet Look Works

Alliance rates Gator Seal Wet Look for:

  • Dry cast concrete paver patios
  • Pool decks and walkways
  • Driveways
  • Previously unsealed surfaces only

Where Gator Seal Wet Look Should NOT Be Used (Straight From the Manufacturer)

Unsealed pavers only. Alliance states this cannot be used as a resealer. If the surface has been sealed before, use Gator Seal Resealer instead.

Wait 60 days after the pavers are installed before sealing.

Everything must be 100 percent dry. Pavers and jointing sand both, with 48 hours of dry weather beforehand, and the surface cool to the touch.

Apply between 60 F and 85 F only. Do not thin or dilute, and apply one coat only.

How to Apply Gator Seal Wet Look

The full step by step guide is in the official documentation below. Here is the shape of the job:

  1. Test roughly 4 sq ft in a hidden area first. Alliance limits the warranty to that area if you skip it.
  2. Remove stains with Gator Clean products, and strip any unknown existing coating with Gator Sealer Stripper.
  3. Replace contaminated joint sand with Gator Polymeric Sand, then wait 48 hours above 60 F with no rain for it to harden.
  4. Clean the whole surface with Gator Efflorescence Cleaner, then wait another 48 hours for it to dry.
  5. Apply one coat by sprayer in 60 sq ft sections, back-rolling the excess with a solvent-resistant foam roller so nothing puddles.

Rain safe at 90 minutes, back in service at 24 hours. Clean tools with acetone.

How Much Will It Change the Color?

A wet look sealer does not tint the paver, it saturates it. The effect is the same one you see when the patio is wet from rain, made permanent. Expect:

  • Colors noticeably deeper and richer, especially on tumbled and textured pavers.
  • A clear high shine across the surface.
  • Any existing efflorescence locked in, which is exactly why Alliance requires the efflorescence clean and the 48 hour dry first.
  • If you want the color lift without the shine, use Satin Look instead. If you want no change at all, use the Signature Series Natural Look.

Quick Answers

Can I use it over an existing sealer?
No. Alliance rates the Satin Look and Wet Look for unsealed pavers only. To refresh a surface that was already sealed, use Gator Seal Resealer.

How soon can it rain?
90 minutes. Do not start if rain is forecast inside that window.

When can I use the patio again?
24 hours after application.

How many coats?
One. Alliance is explicit about this β€” a second coat is not part of the specification.

What cleans my tools?
Acetone. Water will not touch a solvent-based acrylic.

How long do I wait after installing new pavers?
60 days. Sealing too early traps efflorescence under the film.

Will it make my pavers slippery?
A gloss film on a wet surface is always more slippery than bare concrete. Around a pool, consider the Signature Series Natural Look, which is non film-forming.
