WL-87 is a solvent based, low VOC, semi gloss wet look protector that does three things in one application: seals and shields the paver, enhances the color, and stabilizes sand or aggregate joints. Two features set it apart from a standard wet look sealer. The formulation protects the sealer film itself from mold, moss, and algae, and Techniseal calls out excellent hot tire pickup resistance compared with the competition.

Why Contractors Ask for WL-87 by Name
Hot tire pickup is the failure that ruins a sealed driveway. Tires heat up, soften the sealer film, and lift it off in patches when the car pulls away. Most gloss sealers are vulnerable to it.
- Excellent hot tire pickup resistance. Techniseal states this directly and compares it favorably to competing products. On a driveway that is the single most important property a sealer can have.
- The film resists mold, moss, and algae. Most sealers protect the paver but the film itself grows biological staining in shade and damp. WL-87 is formulated against that.
- Genuinely three products in one. Seals and shields, enhances color, and stabilizes sand or exposed aggregate joints, all in a single application.
- Breathable and rapid installation. Techniseal describes it as a breathable, rapid installation sealer, which shortens the time the surface is out of use.
- Semi-gloss rather than high gloss. A wet look without the mirror finish that shows every mark and dates quickly.
- Low VOC for a solvent based product.
- Stain guard film that repels contaminants once cured.

Techniseal does not publish a single coverage figure on the product page for WL-87. Check the current technical data sheet for the coverage rate before you estimate a large job, and remember that joint width and surface porosity move the number considerably.

WL-87 suits the job that needs a sealer to do everything at once.

Where WL-87 Should NOT Be Used (Straight From the Manufacturer)
Not available in California. Techniseal states WL-87 is available in all states except California. For California, they make WL-87 Green, which we do not currently stock.
This is solvent based. Plan for ventilation, appropriate personal protection, and solvent cleanup per the safety data sheet.
It enhances color. If the customer wants no change, use NS or iN instead.
Semi-gloss adds some slickness when wet. On pool decks and slopes, add Techniseal SureFoot anti slip grit for solvent based sealers.
Do not apply over a dirty, damp, or efflorescent surface. Clean and prep first.

How to Use WL-87
Follow the official Techniseal instructions and safety data sheet, linked below. This is the shape of the job:
- Clean the surface thoroughly and let it dry completely.
- Confirm the joints are filled and cured.
- Test a small discrete area and have the customer approve the finish before you seal the whole surface.
- Apply evenly per the technical data sheet, keeping a wet edge and avoiding pooling.
- Observe ventilation and safety requirements throughout.
- Respect recoat and cure times, and keep traffic off through the full cure.
On driveways, give the full cure before any vehicle returns. Hot tire resistance is a property of the cured film, not a partially cured one.
