Why Contractors Ask for SimplyTough by Name
Most polymeric sands turn wetting into a race, and losing the race means haze, weak joints, or both.
- No activation deadline. Water at your pace; keep the surface wet and work up to 500 sq ft at a time.
- Zero haze formula. No Portland cement, fly ash or crushed limestone, the three ingredients that cause hazing.
- Zero dust. The admix is lightly bonded to the sand, so it will not dust when opened or swept.
- Tough joints. Resists sand loss, weeds and insects, and stays flexible.
Coverage: How Many Bags Do You Need?
Per SRW's technical data sheet, each 50 lb bag typically covers:
- Narrow joints: 55 to 75 sq ft per bag
- Wide joints: 25 to 35 sq ft per bag
Actual coverage depends on paver size, joint width and depth. For an exact count, use our free Polymeric Sand Calculator, or call or text (856) 418-4895.
Where SimplyTough Works
SimplyTough is recommended by SRW Products for residential and commercial jointing work:
- Concrete pavers and natural stone
- Porcelain tile
- Driveways, walkways, patios and pool decks
- Concrete overlays
Where SimplyTough Should NOT Be Used (Straight From the Manufacturer)
We would rather tell you this before you buy than argue about it after. Per SRW's technical data sheet, SimplyTough is not for use on clay pavers, and temperatures must remain above 32F throughout installation and curing.
Not sure if your project qualifies? Call or text us at (856) 418-4895 before you order. We will give you a straight answer, even if the answer is that this is not the right product for your job.
Installation at a Glance
The full step by step guide is in the official TDS below. Here is the shape of the job:
- Dry. surface and dry joints first.
- Sweep. SimplyTough into the joints until full to about 1/8 inch below the chamfer, compact, and top up.
- Clean. the surface completely. The formula will not dust, so this pass is quick.
- Wet. the joints thoroughly. No time limit: keep the surface wet and work up to 500 sq ft at a time.
- Cure. with traffic off per the bag directions.
Temperatures must stay above 32F through installation and curing, and always test in a small discrete area first.
Pick Your Color With Confidence
SimplyTough is available in Tan and Granite. SRW notes in their own documentation that actual color varies by geographic location, and screens make it worse: every monitor shows color differently.
Not 100% sure which color matches your pavers? Order our color samples from our samples collection first and compare real material on your actual stone before buying full units. Jointing material is permanent once cured; a few dollars of certainty is cheap.
Quick Answers
What does 'no time constraint' actually mean?
Ordinary polymeric sand must be watered on a deadline once you start. SimplyTough has none: keep the surface wet and work at your own pace.
Is it rated for porcelain?
Yes. SRW lists porcelain tile among SimplyTough's applications.
Can I use it on clay pavers?
No. SRW's TDS says not for use on clay pavers. For clay, call us and we will point you to the right sand.
When can I seal over it?
Let the joints fully cure before cleaning and sealing; 28 days is the safe rule of thumb.
Is there anything I should know about handling it?
Wear gloves and eye protection, follow the label, and keep it away from children and pets until placed or cured. Full precautions are in the SDS below.
