What It Is
Techniseal® WR7 Waterproofing Sealant is a water-based, siloxane penetrating sealer built to protect vertical concrete, brick, and masonry surfaces along with their mortar joints. Rather than sitting on top as a film, its active agents penetrate the surface and form an invisible bond that blocks water and contaminants from getting into the substrate.
That barrier is what prevents the deterioration caused by de-icing salts and freeze-thaw cycles, while adding resistance to acids and alkalis. WR7 also helps prevent dust from clinging to the surface and reduces the black staining that comes from air pollution, all while preserving the natural look of the material. Because it is water-based, it does not release unpleasant fumes and is environmentally friendly.

- Retaining walls (concrete and segmental block)
- Brick walls and brick facades
- Concrete surfaces and concrete facades
- Stone facades (porous stone only; see the absorption test below)
- Mortar joints on vertical masonry
- This is a natural-look, penetrating sealer, not a wet-look or gloss product. It goes on milky white and dries clear and invisible. It will not add shine. If you want a glossy, wet-look finish, that is a different product (Techniseal WL4).
- Designed for vertical surfaces such as walls and facades. For horizontal surfaces like patios, walkways, and flatwork, Techniseal asks that you contact them first for guidance before applying.
- Do not apply to non-porous natural stone. Run the water absorption test first: sprinkle a few drops of water on the surface. If it soaks in, you are good to go. If it beads up or is repelled, do not apply.
- Wait 28 days before applying to fresh concrete or new mortar joints.
- The surface may look slightly darker for about 30 days after application, then it returns to its original appearance. In some cases the treatment can permanently deepen the material's color, which is exactly why the small hidden test area matters.
How to Apply
Conditions
- Surface must be clean, dry, and warm to the touch.
- Air and surface temperature between 50°F and 85°F during application and for the next 24 hours.
- No rain forecast for the next 24 hours; turn off any sprinkler systems.
Steps
- Test first. Always test a small hidden area of about 4 sq ft to confirm the result meets your expectations.
- Prep. Cover vegetation, vehicles, and adjacent surfaces you do not want treated. Remove stains and clean the surface with a cleaner suited to the material.
- Do not dilute. Shake or stir well before and during application. If your project needs more than one container, blend them together first for a uniform result.
- Tools. Use a 3/4 in (19 mm) foam roller for rough surfaces, or a low-pressure airless sprayer (under 50 psi) or pump sprayer.
- Apply top-down. Working from the top of the wall, saturate the surface with a single coat until the substrate cannot absorb any more. It is saturated when product runs off 6 to 8 inches below the application point. Avoid pooling excess product.
- Cure. Product is milky white in the container and dries clear. It is dry to the touch in about 1 hour, and the full water-repellent effect becomes noticeable roughly 30 days after application.

Coverage is a guide. Rough, porous, or highly absorbent surfaces will take more product and reduce square footage, so always buy a little extra for full saturation.

Only on porous stone that passes the absorption test. Sprinkle a few drops of water on the surface. If it soaks in, you can apply WR7. If the water beads or is repelled, the stone is non-porous and WR7 should not be used.
Wait 28 days for fresh concrete or new mortar joints to cure before applying WR7.
Reapply only once the surface stops repelling water, typically about 5 years at minimum. You can check by sprinkling water on the surface to see whether it still beads.
