Why Contractors Ask for Gator Signature Series Natural Look by Name
Film sealers eventually fail visibly β they wear through in traffic lanes and peel. A penetrating, non film-forming sealer cannot, because there is no film to fail. That is why Alliance puts this one at roughly 10 years against 2 to 3 for the Hybrid line.
- Around 10 year finish life, the longest Alliance publishes for any of their sealers.
- Non film-forming and breathable. It penetrates and forms an invisible barrier rather than a coating, so moisture is not trapped in the paver.
- Fluoro-free (PFAS-free) water-based technology, and under 50 g/L VOC.
- Natural look with only a slight enhancement of color β the closest thing to leaving the surface untouched.
- Approved for walls and masonry, not just flatwork. Alliance recommends a breathable sealer on walls specifically.
- Can be applied to damp surfaces and works above 41 F.
- Stops water, de-icing salt, coffee, wine, motor oil and grease from penetrating.

Where Gator Signature Series Natural Look Works
Alliance rates the Signature Series Natural Look for:
- Dry cast concrete pavers
- Retaining walls and masonry
- Natural stone
- Pool decks and patios where a slip-resistant, non-glossy finish matters
- Indoor concrete and natural stone
Where Gator Signature Series Natural Look Should NOT Be Used (Straight From the Manufacturer)
Unsealed surfaces only. It cannot serve as a resealer.
One coat only. Alliance warns that more coats can create a slippery surface.
Wait 60 days after dry cast pavers are installed, and make sure the surface is cool to the touch.
Do not apply during rain. Excess application can make the surface slippery when wet.

How to Apply Signature Series Natural Look
The full step by step guide is in the official documentation below. Here is the shape of the job:
- Test roughly 4 sq ft in a hidden area first.
- Clean and remove all stains with Gator Clean products.
- Replace contaminated jointing material with Gator Polymeric Sand, then wait 48 hours above 41 F with no rain.
- Clean the whole surface with Gator Efflorescence Cleaner, then wait another 48 hours to dry.
- Apply one coat with a low-pressure sprayer in 60 sq ft sections and even it out with a water-based foam roller.
- Wash tools immediately with warm soapy water.
Film-Forming or Penetrating? The Difference That Matters
This is the single biggest decision in sealing a patio, and it has nothing to do with gloss.
- Film formers (the Gator Seal solvent line and the whole Hybrid line) sit on top. They can deliver real shine and color depth, and they eventually wear through, peel or blush β hence 2 to 5 year finish lives.
- Penetrating, non film-forming (this product) soaks in and leaves nothing on the surface to fail. No shine, minimal color change, roughly 10 years.
- Walls need breathability. Alliance recommends a breathable non film-forming sealer there, which rules out the Hybrid and solvent lines.
- Around pools, a non-glossy penetrating sealer is the safer footing.
Quick Answers
Will it change how my pavers look?
Only slightly. It is a natural look sealer with a small enhancement of color, and no shine or film.
How long does it last?
Alliance rates it at around 10 years, by far the longest in their sealer range, and it carries a 10 year warranty.
Can I use it on a retaining wall?
Yes. It is approved for walls, masonry and natural stone, and Alliance recommends a breathable sealer for walls specifically.
Can I apply it on a damp surface?
Alliance lists "applicable on damp surfaces" as a feature, which sets it apart from the rest of the range.
Is it safe around a pool?
It is non film-forming, so it does not create the glossy layer that gets slippery. Do not over-apply β Alliance warns that excess can make the surface slippery when wet.
What cleans my tools?
Warm soapy water, immediately after use.
What temperature can I apply at?
41 F to 85 F. Note Alliance revised this up from 32 F in an earlier data sheet, so older figures floating around are out of date.
