Why Contractors Ask for Gator Signature Series Natural Stone Color Enhancer by Name
Most color enhancers are acrylic films that leave a shine on stone and eventually peel. This one is silicone-based and non film-forming: the color goes deep and stays matte.
- Zero gloss color enhancement. Darkens the stone to a wet look depth with no shine at all.
- Non film-forming. Nothing sits on the surface to peel or blush.
- Horizontal and vertical, interior and exterior. Works on walls and cladding as well as patios.
- Rated for salt-water pool patios specifically.
- Guards against de-icing salt corrosion, UV, motor oil and grease staining.
- Coverage varies by stone type, from 200 sq ft per gallon on sandstone up to 700 on travertine.

How to Apply the Natural Stone Color Enhancer
The full step by step guide is in the official documentation below. Here is the shape of the job:
- Test roughly 4 sq ft in a hidden area β essential here, because the darkening effect varies by stone.
- Remove stains with Gator Clean, or Gator Sealer Stripper for unknown coatings.
- Replace contaminated joint material with Gator Polymeric Sand and wait 48 hours above 50 F with no rain.
- Clean the whole surface with Gator Efflorescence Cleaner, then wait 48 hours to dry.
- Apply one coat in 60 sq ft sections by sprayer, roller, squeegee, sponge or rag.
- Wipe the excess after 5 to 10 minutes with clean, dry, lint-free cotton cloths. Repeat after 30 minutes if the stone still wants more.
Foot traffic at 8 hours, vehicles at 72 hours, rain safe at 24 hours.
How Much Darker Will My Stone Go?
Enough that you should always test first. The effect is roughly what the stone looks like when wet, and it is permanent without stripping.
- Porous stone such as sandstone and limestone darkens most, and uses the most product.
- Dense stone such as granite and travertine darkens less and goes much further per gallon.
- Flamed and textured finishes take it well and gain a lot of depth.
- If you want protection with no color change at all, use the Signature Series Natural Look instead.
