Heavy Duty Efflorescence and Construction Slurry Remover

The heavier of Alliance's two efflorescence cleaners, and the only one that also takes construction slurry off pavers. An 8-to-1 concentrate in a 5 gallon pail β€” one pail makes 45 gallons and covers about 1,800 sq ft.

Why Contractors Ask for Gator Efflorescence and Slurry Remover by Name

Standard efflorescence cleaner handles a normal white bloom. When you are dealing with slurry left behind by saw cutting or a heavy mineral crust across a whole job, this is the grade that deals with it, and it goes further per pail.

  • Removes efflorescence and slurry. The slurry capability is what separates it from the standard cleaner.
  • 8 to 1 concentrate. One 5 gallon pail makes 45 gallons of working solution.
  • About 1,800 sq ft per pail, making it the economical choice on large jobs.
  • Cleans without discoloring or damaging the paver surface.
  • Washes off with water.

Gator Efflorescence and Slurry Remover Specifications

Container 5 gallon (18.9 L) pail only
Dilution 8 parts water to 1 part concentrate
Coverage 40 sq ft per diluted gallon
Coverage per pail About 1,800 sq ft
Dwell time Wait 1 minute, then scrub
Surfaces Concrete pavers, wet cast, natural stone, and slurry
PPE Goggles and rubber gloves

A 5 gallon pail plus 40 gallons of water covers roughly 1,800 sq ft. If your job is smaller, the 1 gallon Gator Efflorescence Cleaner is the sensible size.

Where Gator Efflorescence and Slurry Remover Works

Alliance rates it for:

  • Heavy efflorescence across a whole installation
  • Construction slurry from cutting and grinding
  • Concrete pavers, wet cast and natural stone
  • Large commercial cleanups before sealing

Where Gator Efflorescence and Slurry Remover Should NOT Be Used (Straight From the Manufacturer)

Never use it on new concrete pavers. Wait at least 60 days after installation.

Polymeric sand must cure first β€” 48 hours above 59 F with no rain.

Test every dilution on 4 sq ft in a hidden area, both for the result and to check it is not etching the surface. Untested, the warranty covers only that 4 sq ft.

Do not let it dry on the paver surface, and do not apply under strong sun. Wear goggles and rubber gloves. Store above 32 F.

How to Use the Efflorescence and Slurry Remover

The full step by step guide is in the official documentation below. Here is the shape of the job:

  1. Wet the paver surface thoroughly.
  2. Apply the diluted product with a pump sprayer or watering can, about one diluted gallon per 40 sq ft.
  3. Wait one minute to react, then scrub vigorously with a hard bristle brush.
  4. Rinse thoroughly and move on to the next 40 sq ft section.
  5. Final rinse until there is no more foaming. Heavy efflorescence may need a second pass.

Which Efflorescence Cleaner Do I Need?

Alliance makes two, and the difference is strength, capability and how far a container goes.

  • Gator Efflorescence Cleaner β€” 4 to 1 dilution, 1 and 5 gallon, about 200 sq ft per gallon of concentrate. The standard pre-seal clean.
  • Efflorescence & Slurry Remover β€” 8 to 1, 5 gallon only, about 1,800 sq ft per pail, and it takes construction slurry as well.
  • For one residential patio, the standard cleaner. For a commercial job or anything with saw slurry on it, this one.
  • Both need the same 60 day wait after paver installation, and both require a test area.

Quick Answers

What is the difference from the standard Efflorescence Cleaner?
This is an 8 to 1 concentrate rather than 4 to 1, it also removes construction slurry, and it comes in 5 gallon only.

How much does one pail cover?
About 1,800 sq ft once diluted, at 40 sq ft per diluted gallon.

What is slurry?
The fine cement paste left behind by saw cutting, grinding or wet masonry work. It dries to a stubborn film that ordinary cleaner does not shift.

Can I use it on brand new pavers?
No. Wait at least 60 days after installation.

Will it etch my pavers?
Alliance requires you to test every dilution on a hidden 4 sq ft area specifically to check for etching before you commit.

Is it available in a 1 gallon?
No, this one is 5 gallon only. The standard Efflorescence Cleaner comes in 1 gallon.
