Alliance Gator Block Bond XP is one of the strongest polyurethane adhesives on the market specifically formulated for hardscape applications. It bonds concrete pavers, natural stone, wet cast stone, blocks, bricks, retaining wall blocks, masonry units, wall caps, pool copings, step treads, and overlay installations with a permanent bond that cures fully in 24 hours. Unlike standard construction adhesives, Alliance Gator Block Bond XP is formulated for the specific demands of outdoor hardscape. it works on both dry and humid surfaces, tolerates outdoor temperature swings, and delivers a tenacious bond that holds permanently once cured.
One of the most useful features of Alliance Gator Block Bond XP is its 30-minute repositioning window. After joining the two surfaces, the bond can be repositioned and adjusted for up to 30 minutes without losing bond strength. This gives installers time to verify alignment before the bond becomes permanent. Note that moisture shortens the repositioning window. in humid conditions, work faster.
Alliance Gator Block Bond XP is a low VOC formula and is available in 10 oz tubes and 28 oz tubes. Both sizes are applied with a standard caulking gun. The 10 oz single tube is ideal for small repairs and spot applications. The 10 oz case and 28 oz case are the better value for larger installations like retaining walls, seating walls, and overlay projects where multiple tubes are needed.

What Is Alliance Gator Block Bond XP Used For?
Seating walls, retaining walls, and wall caps Alliance Gator Block Bond XP is the specified adhesive for bonding wall cap units to the top course of retaining and seating walls. It permanently bonds the cap to the wall block, preventing shifting, lifting, and water infiltration at the wall top. It is also used to bond each course of blocks in decorative seating walls where mortar is not used.
Pool copings and step treads Alliance Gator Block Bond XP is commonly used to permanently bond pool coping stones and step tread units to their substrates. The adhesive holds under the repeated wet and dry cycles, temperature swings, and physical stress that pool surrounds and exterior steps experience over time.
Overlay paver installations When installing concrete pavers or natural stone as an overlay over an existing concrete slab, Alliance Gator Block Bond XP bonds the paver directly to the slab surface. The adhesive creates a permanent mechanical bond between the overlay paver and the concrete substrate, eliminating the need for a full bedding sand layer in overlay applications.
Natural stone and wet cast bonding Alliance Gator Block Bond XP bonds natural stone pavers, flagstone, wet cast stone, and masonry units to each other or to concrete substrates. The polyurethane formula is compatible with porous stone surfaces and creates a permanent bond even when the stone surface has some residual humidity at the time of application.
Not for continuous water submersion applications Alliance Gator Block Bond XP is not intended for applications where the bonded surface will be continuously submerged in water, such as below the waterline of a swimming pool. For above-water pool coping and surround applications it performs well, but it is not a waterproof adhesive rated for submerged use.
How to Apply Alliance Gator Block Bond XP Polyurethane Adhesive
Before you begin: Wear gloves throughout application. Make sure all surfaces to be bonded are clean and free of dust, grease, and loose material. Once fully cured, Alliance Gator Block Bond XP cannot be removed with solvents. only mechanical removal is possible. Clean all tools immediately after use with mineral solvent before the adhesive cures.
1
Clean all bonding surfaces thoroughly
Ensure all surfaces to be bonded are completely clean and free of dust, dirt, grease, loose material, and any existing adhesive residue. For best results on concrete and stone surfaces, the surface should be clean but can have some residual humidity. Alliance Gator Block Bond XP works on dry and humid surfaces.
2
Prepare the tube and load into a caulking gun
Cut the tip of the spout at the desired opening size and puncture the inner seal of the cartridge with a nail before loading into a standard caulking gun. Alliance Gator Block Bond XP is applied using a standard caulking gun for both the 10 oz and 28 oz tube sizes.
3
Apply Alliance Gator Block Bond XP to the clean surface
Apply Alliance Gator Block Bond XP adhesive to one of the two surfaces being bonded. For standard block and paver bonding, apply in beads or dots across the surface. For artificial turf seam tape applications, apply in a serpentine pattern over the seam tape for maximum adhesion and permanent bonding performance.
4
Join surfaces firmly with a twisting motion
Press the two surfaces together firmly and use a slight twisting motion to spread the Alliance Gator Block Bond XP adhesive evenly across the contact area. The twisting motion improves contact between the adhesive and both surfaces, resulting in a stronger final bond.
5
Reposition within 30 minutes if needed, then allow to cure
Alliance Gator Block Bond XP allows repositioning for up to 30 minutes after joining without losing bond strength. Note that humidity and moisture will shorten this window. in humid conditions, work faster. Once the positioning is confirmed, allow the bond to cure overnight. Full permanent bond strength is reached in 24 hours. Cure time varies based on temperature, humidity, and the porosity of the materials joined.
